We’re an environmentally-focused organisation with a twist. We put your interests before those of the environment.
So doesn’t that make us bad? Well no, quite the opposite in fact. Here’s why.
You don’t have to be a “Greenie” to care
For many of us, looking after ourselves and our families takes up all our time and money. It doesn’t leave us with much to focus on the environment.
It doesn’t mean we don’t care about the environment – it just means we haven’t found a way to take action that we can fit into our lives.
Environmental action that fits your life
Our goal is to uncover environmental actions that actually help you look after yourself and your family. The best way we can do that is to save you money – easily.
If it doesn’t save money we won’t recommend it
Any action we recommend has to be capable of saving you money in the long-run. Otherwise we’ll tell you not to do it. Here’s some examples of things we wouldn’t recommend:
- Installing solar panels in parts of Tasmania and Victoria;
- Installing a rainwater tank (unless the law requires you to do it);
- Paying more to buy a 4-star rated fridge over a 3-star rated model, knowing you won’t get back the difference through long-term energy savings.
If it’s not easy we won’t recommend it
We’re not recommending getting rid of your car, growing your own food, or buying sustainable products from boutique stores. They’re all worthy actions, but they take a lot of time and effort to build into your lifestyle.
Sounds good, but are you really on my side?
Yes we are – despite the fact that we’re a business. We’re set up as a business that does good, not as a charity or a not-for-profit organisation. We don’t take donations.
Which means we have to earn money to stay open. We get commissions when you get a quote or buy a product from an advertiser on our site. These commissions help us keep our site free, and help us do more research to help you.
